Okie I finally got down to calling the tecnician down to fix my corrupted computer. Eh lemme rephrase that: I coerced my sister to do the calling cos I was being lazy. So this afternoon, some Compaq guy came down and my dad entertained him, and goodness knows what he did (I wasn't at home) and now the computer has been restored to factory settings. And the all-important awesome thing is that it's working fine now.

Whee hee. Maybe the computer breaking down is a blessing in disguise, cos I've been able to sleep more.

Oh well, I guess I'm supposed to feel enriched, since it's Enrichment Week. Bah I'm just feeling as if it's like a holiday, going on excursions or talks or whatever. Monday's video showing of Glass Menagerie was kinda pointless, cos the play had absolutely no action at all and the entire plot centers on these 4 main characters speaking in some Slovakian accent and we couldn't hear the words clearly. So I had no idea what's going on at all...

Tuesday was spent at the URA gallery, and it was kinda interesting to hear the Master Plans and Concept Plans being explained all over again when Mrs Pang did that for me 2 years ago. URA had this giant aerial-view model of the Central Business District, and the little trees are quite cute.

And yesterday was a series of poetry workshops with Ms Ho Poh Fun. What the heck I don't even know why I'm still so polite towards her. Okie she published her own poems collection in a book about 20 years ago, and the subject was suposed to be phonaesthetics and syntax/meditation of poetry. AND ALL THE POEMS SHE SELECTED FOR STUDY WERE FROM HER OWN COLLECTION. Okie there were maybe 10% of it which were from her students and friends whom I'm not even sure are credible, established poets. Me attending the workshop thinking that it might help you in Literature, but all you get are the entire poetry collection of Ms HPF. I'm soooo sure that all the other poets out there in the world did such a terrible job that they cannot even compare to Ms HPF. Or maybe Ms HPF just didn't bother researching outside her 'already-acclaimed" collection cos hers is already sooo great.

Me, Janvin and Benny are resolved to calling each other PRUDES for the rest of the next few months or so.

And yesterday afternoon, me, KaiJ, Benny and Rhoda travelled down to NUS for a Geography Career Talk. I met Clarissa and Edwin! Haha okie I see Clari every week so it's not that spectacular, but Edwin! He's much more hunky-dorey and charming now. Haha! The talks by all the speakers didn't really make a lot of sense to me, cos none of them were teachers and they're all in weird professions except the URA planner.

And today, it was Asian cultural heritage tour to Kampung Glam and Little India! We did a lot of walking, sightsee-ed like a tourist, visited places of worship etc, all within 5 hours plus plus. Whoo! Me and Khairi decided to wear our red OGL shirts and we looked extremely conspicuous among the 40-odd students who were mostly dressed in white. The weather was hot though it did rain in the end. Okie I was slightly enriched, cos I did learn some new stuff today. ^_^

This evening I was at Jericho with the other worship leaders discussing about our joint "praise and praise" on Good Friday. I WANT TO SING WORLDS APART!!!

Monday 27 March 2006

From Jaslyn's blog! The picture says it all. I'm hungry.

OOPSY sorry for not updating in this blog. It's not as if my life is so boring that I've got nothing to say, it's just that my computer chose a rather unfortunate time to break down. I'm updating in school now cos I need to rush a presentation out by Saturday. And to do my Permutation and Combination assignment online. UGH maybe my computer needs a hard jolt for turning its "screen" on me at the most crucial moment.

Kai Jie is beside me now. It's enrichment week, and the morning was spent on watching a bunch of boogers lindy-hopping on stage. Haha it was funky! Then a JJQCA and me and KaiJ and Annie went to KAP for breakfast, and now me and KaiJ are in BYTZ.

Common Tests are over! Most of the papers were manageable, except for Maths. Like Khairi said, it's not a paper, it's a killer. Oh well I guess it's part and parcel of the stress that you face when you're in your A'Level year...

In the midst of studying for Literature, I realised that a lot of things made sense to me. Especially my dear George "Herby" Herbert and King "Leary" Lear. Herby has the most diabolic and didactic virtues to bring forth, but his spiritual faith is unshaken like a rock. He's not ashamed of the gospel. Leary on the other hand is a stupid old disillusioned bloke who learns humility the hard way. I like the part when the Fool talks about idiotic kindness: about the woman who wanted to bake pies but refuses to kill the eels that she wants to use as filling, and about her brother who feeds his horses buttered hay to make a nicer palate for them.

KaiJ says: That, or you're reading too much into what Shakespeare originally intended. HELLO, IT'S A PLAY?! JUST A PLAY?!!!!

I LOVE BUTTERFLIES.

KaiJ says: So random. =.="

Anyway, I just learnt from Rhoda that the word macabre is not pronounced meh-ker-ber, it's pronounced mer-karb. Gosh it's sort of like double entendre.

KaiJ says: So random again. -_-

Asian elephants have smaller ears than African elephants. They're grey like NJ uniform.

KaiJ says: There are 10 types of people in this world: People who understand binary and people who don't.

Janvin just arrived! I haven't seen him for ages! JANVIN I MISS YOU!!!

KaiJ says: So random yet again... -___-

Okie till my computer gets fixed, I shall not be at this blog. Update me on the blogosphere events face-to-face.

Monday 20 March 2006

Had a fever last night. It wasn't that serious, but it caused me to puke twice. Was thinking of skipping today's Common Test papers, but if I did I would be missing Geography and Maths and I didn't want to do that cos I did put in effort for them. Okay Geography was relatively okay I guess. It wasn't too tough, but it wasn't simple either. Barely had time to squeeze in all my words cos there was a lot of writing involved and my hand is tired from writing.

Maths was quite a disappointment. Yep I think it was the first time I actually bothered to practise all the equations, but the paper was difficult so there were still many blanks on my script. I didn't study for Numerical Solutions and Vectors cos I couldn't make sense of them. Blahh when I put in effort to study for Maths, the paper just had to be a killer. Crap.

Kai Jie taught me how to determine maximum and minimum points of a curve today. I forgot how to do them totally, and he taught me some first order differential technique that was quite cool. Haha and I was on the same bus home with Siew today! I like yellow scrungee hairbands.

I'm coughing badly. I think my lungs are quite susceptible to colds. Maybe I should eat more fruits rather than just bananas and durian puffs.

Sunday 19 March 2006

Okay I've been quite busy for the past 2 days. Holidays are ending, and I've got Common Tests starting in another 20 hours or so. BLAH.

Friday was a busy day spent on travelling. In the morning I was at Eleanor's house with Faith, having our half-yearly worship/fellowship sessions. Greg was supposed to be there, but he had some family outing at the last minute. The last time we met together was in July or August last year? And Faith became fatter! Haha! So yup, we had another 2 hour worship marathon and talking nonsense. Eleanor likes to poke me in the head. And it's really my "priviledge" to spend time with these two "wonderful" girls. (Chokes)

After that I travelled all the way to Tiong Bahru Plaza to meet Jaslyn, Annie and Kai Jie. They were there studying since morning, so I tried reading the Urbanisation notes borrowed from Kai Jie and we mugged for another hour or so? Went down to Bedok together to meet Jin Jen, then we took a bus to East Coast Park for the A01 family barbeque! Yep the junior class are treating us seniors to a barbeque, but there were only 5 of us! Okie Khairi and Shi En turned up later in the night, so we figured that we were the only 7 people in the entire class who didn't bother studying!! Seriously, if an additional night of mugging could gurantee you a distinction, I'll gladly stay at home to study, but naahh I'll rather prefer to be out playing cos that's obviously impossible. (Glares)

We formed a new clique! JKJK SAG, after our initials. It was great hearing them shout out the A01 cheer. And singing the school song and Aerius song. I wore my "Feed Me" shirt for the occasion. We all thought Shi En would arrive by canoe, but she walked. I didn't notice Huai Ying and Regina until I spent 2 hours there. Oh picture is from Jin Jen's blog, her new specs make her look cool!

JKJK SAG!!

I left halfway to rush back to corps cos there's cell group and I was supposed to lead the lesson for the night. Took a taxi all the way back to Bishan... Charmaine brought back chocolates from Perth, so Biru kept throwing the food at me cos I'm wearing the "Feed Me" shirt. Somehow the topic shifted to ghosts and spirits again, so Della and both Rachels kept screaming. Okay maybe not Rachel Kwan.

And yesterday? I was busy mugging. That explains it all.

Thursday 16 March 2006

I'm feeling quite miserable now. Went to bed last night with a dreadful cold, without bothering to take the flu pill cos I thought it'll probably clear away by itself throughout the night. Nahh it didn't... I woke up this morning with a bad cough; my nose is blocked, leaking and sneezing.

I hate blocked noses. I can't smell anything. And I can't taste my breakfast.

The entire morning has been kinda dull and dreary. I've been hogging the tissue box all to myself and filling the bin full of that white stuff. The most exciting thing that happened was receiving identical messages from Khairi, Annie and Ruth. They want to go mugging tomorrow at Tiong Bahru Plaza, so they're inviting almost everyone cos we're all going for the A01 barbeque after that. There was a (send to guan) note at the top of Khairi's and Annie's messages, so I presume it was Ruth's doing. (:

Okay I just popped a flu pill, so ideally speaking I should be knocked out in another hour. Cheerios.

Wednesday 15 March 2006

Okie I've got people staring at me from my window now. 3 or 4 of them holding sticks and directly outside my kitchen window. And they keep shouting at people to bring in their clothes cos all those inconsiderate blokes are blocking their ascent on that carrier thingy. And they're turning the walls into a mass of white paint.

Yesterday I went down to Catholic High again, to meet Ms Angelin Wong who used to be my Sec 1 and 2 form teacher. I'm going to give another talk there during one of the assembly periods, but this time it's for the secondary school section. So for the entire time that I was there, I was at Ms Wong's table viewing all the past nature guiding photos. And I realised that if I was serious about being a teacher back at Catholic High, I'm going to occupy one of those tables in another 5-7 years time. Sheesh.

After the meeting I went down to Jericho to help out with the Games Week. And yep Adriel warned about babysitting kids that were like below 5 years old... Okay it was quite chaotic, cos there were a total of 5 kids all below the age of 10! There were the sisters, Patterny and Nerissa, who were 9 and 4 respectively. Then there was Deron, Dylan and Denise who were 4, 5 and 9 too. Was playing Halli Galli with them, and I think sooner or later the bell's going to give way under all that slamming. Pat and Ner went home soon after, so I was helping Denise with her Science homework. And I brought Ron to the toilets like 10 times in total? Cos he was some peeing-crazy boy who drank a lot of water. I LOVE DENISE!! Gosh if she were like another 5 years older I'd have eloped with her or something. Haha yesh she was adorable! In the midst of doing her Science worksheet, we started talking about the difficulties of being the eldest in the family, about the colour pink (she likes pink too!)... Then she drew a picture of a bunny for me and I drew Powerpuff Girls for her, although her Professor is better-looking than mine. Haha!

Under the springs of heaven, there my soul will seek to dwell...

Monday 13 March 2006

I went to the zoo today! Yep ZOO! I seriously can't remember when was the last time that I stepped into the zoo... But I can remember when was the last time I went to Night Safari! Okay slightly out of point. Anyway it was a joint Green Link/OG1 outing, but everyone couldn't make it so only Beatrice, Suling, Connie, Jingjie and Christine turned up. And Tammy too, cos I asked her last night whether she wanted to join us...

Hmm the entire outlook of the entire zoo really changed a lot! When we first arrived we couldn't even find the ticketing booths! And I didn't remember the entrance being so spacious and tall!! Yup but the renovations didn't come cheap. $15 on entrance fees alone. And everything was sooo overpriced. Maybe it's because we're all kids who don't earn their own money, and maybe it's because we're not big money-spending tourists visiting the zoo for the first time.

Yup it was more or less the usual animals; all the elephants and tigers and camels and lions and zebras and bears and monkeys. YESH I think we saw LOADS OF MONKEYS, cos the Singapore Zoo has the most number of primate collection in the world. The penguins look extremely clumsy cos they can't balance themselves. And I got to meet my distant relatives, the GUANACO and IGUANA! Then we ended the trip at the Children's World by touching all those horses and ponies and sheeps and cows and pigs. We even got to birdwatch at some tiny enclosure.

I think the goats are irritating. All they do is just prance around, meh-meh consistently and act cute, waiting for people to reach their hands out to feed them!! And I think zebras are animals with the worst fashion statement. Look at their stupid black and white stripes! Why would God want to create such ugly animals??? And I didn't get to see my magpie robins. Haha and everything looks fake to me! Each time we see a new animal I'll just ask "are they real?" because they're not moving. Appearance and reality. ("JAS THIS IS NOT A SOCCER MATCH!" says Mr Whitby)

Oh well. Zoo's kinda boring I guess. The animals don't fight each other. The predators don't eat the preys. The animals don't eat each other. They walk around in circles. Or they sleep like dead logs. Or they run around aimlessly. Connie thinks I'm a sadistic kid cos I like to see animals in distress. Christine thinks I don't like everything! Okie I admit I hate animals. I prefer plants more than animals, so everything's kinda boring to me unless they fight or they eat each other up or they have some orgy-porgy. And when we saw the Tropical Crops Plantation, I was absolutely dying to get there cos finally there's a place with nice proper plants instead of animals. I think that was the only thing that I liked about the zoo. Haha. Okie the white tigers were impressive too, cos they fought a bit. And the arapiama too, cos it was feeding time and they were simply HUGE and aggressively biting the fish off the zookeeper's stick.

And the most ironic part? I realised I was the one who organised this zoo trip! Haha maybe I should just plan a trip to Botanical Gardens or to BTNR. I dislike animals because they move about too much. Plants are sooo much nicer. They stay still.

I wanted to buy souvenirs too! Wanted to get Hai Hao something nice, but everything was so expensive and the cheapest were balloons going at $3.90 each! Then we saw plants outside the zoo entrance selling at $2.50 for a medium-sized pot. Oh crap the plants are cheaper than the souvenirs. And so we went home after that. Hai Hao decided to cancel tuition with me today, so it was kinda good in a way, cos I was quite tired.

Tammy's my bimbo counterpart! Haha!! And I'll ask Shi Hui along to the zoo the next time too! (:

Oh great. Priscilla (Low) just said she saw a snake eat another snake when she visited the zoo the last time. WHY DIDN'T I GET TO SEE SOMETHING LIKE THAT?

Saturday 11 March 2006

YAY! I've been in a weird mood this entire week! Weird feelings in a good way. I really don't know how to put it out in words. I'm not a metaphysical poet like Herbert or Donne. They can churn out physical metaphors and imagery dealing with abstract ideas easily, but I'm not them so I can't. I'm GUAN YOU! Haha I need to constantly remind myself of my identity.

Anyway, yesterday was the start of my common tests. Actually that's a wrong use of pronouns, cos common tests aren't just MINE but EVERYONE'S. So yup, yesterday was GP for all of us. I honestly found the comprehension manageable, despite what everyone says about it being some toughie. It was my essay that was quite disorganised, cos I was preparing for environment topics but none of it came out. I did "only a life lived for others is worthwhile" and wrote junk.

After GP ended, me and Atiqah initially wanted to find Kai Jie so that we can go over to Namly Cafe for lunch, but Kai J was already on the bus home. Haha cos we had lunch there last year after common tests too, and we wanted a reminiscence of our Namly Cafe lunch adventure! But Kai J promised us he'll go sometime next week as we still have papers in a week's time.

So me and Atiqah decided to go to Little India instead! We walked like for 45 minutes, trying to find the Little India Arcade, and had lunch that was sooo filling because of all the potatoes and flour in the curry and bread. I got myself a henna tattoo on my right hand! Then me and Atiqah each got a bracelet too, and I got a pair of pink shades! But the worst thing was, while walking along the still-drying henna dye on my hand got smudged by Atiqah's bag!! So my henna tattoo has got a gradient effect, cos half of it looks normal while the other half is slightly faded.

Yesterday night at youth service was barbeque! Biru was leading the sing-along session and I was supposed to back-up sing, but me and Tammy started fooling around and came up with bimbotic dance moves for almost every song! Haha anyway Tammy is my bimbotic partner now, cos for the whole night we kept doing our bimbo chant and talking in an airhead manner and going airy-fairy at all of Matthew's comments!! And Joel taught us all a new Black Sheep White Sheep game! And I met Douglas' sister Shi Hui who is in NJ too!

Had a Jericho meeting today, but I was having a headache and sore throat as well so I wasn't sure I caught everything. I think Shermin is turning into a sleeping monster, just like Biru.

Wednesday 8 March 2006

I'm seriously enjoying my life right now. Today was an EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD DAY. Nothing is going to trouble me or ruffle my hair tomorrow, cos EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD DAYS rub off into the next day as well. I'll just about do anything for anyone! And yesh Khairi I'm such a slut.

Maybe I should really mutate myself into a water droplet and evaporate into the skies, condense into clouds and come back to earth again as precipitation. I want to be part of the hydrological cycle.

Stupid moment #1: Ms Ting showed us this weather and climate video in class, then she asked what was the fundamental idea behind the video. I cleverly said "I HATE WEATHER" because the stupid video narrator said that right at the start of the video. Ms Ting just acted as if I was insignificant for the rest of the lesson.

Stupid moment #2: Mr Whitby asked who Frank Harris was, and I cleverly said "THAT SINGER" because his name sounds like a singer, and despite never hearing of Frank Harris in my whole life. Mr Whitby stared at me and went "I think you meant Frank Sinatra".

I finally managed to find Critical Essays on King Lear in the school library. And I ordered Longan Red Jelly with condensed milk for the first time in my NJ college life! I didn't know what the drink was called, so I just said I wanted "that red-red thing", thanks to Lauren's influence. HAHA I finally called Lauren by her proper name after 3 months of insulting her. But now it's Tis' turn! I called her a Nosey Tissue Paper. WAHAA.

Was giving maths tuition for Hai Hao today, and Sarah came bouncing by in between to say goodbye as she was going home. She started doing weird actions like sticking her thumbs right in front of my face and even wrote "have fun giving tuition!" on my paper. And Hai Hao just suddenly went all grown-up and asked me "your girlfriend arh?" HAHAHA!! Oh gosh that moment was priceless!! And he's 6 or 7 years younger than me?? HAHA! Much as I think Sarah looks hot with slightly curly hair, I'm still single and available for grabs.

Tuesday 7 March 2006

Haha I had quite a fun time in school today! For PE we played frisbee and it's been a long long time since I touched an actual flying frisbee!! What was slightly different was that when the frisbee falls to the ground, we don't change possession, so there was a lot of scrambling and fighting to win the frisbee. Hee hee! Then after school I went to join in the mass dancing with the juniors! Me and Khairi actually arranged to crash the mass dance session together cos we didn't want to miss out on Orientation 2. But I met Angela outside the hall so we danced together, while he went to dance with Grace Tay... It felt kinda weird to be one of the few "full-grey people" in the hall, but still it was great to relive those Orientation days. And I danced with Huai Ying again! Haha I switched positions with her and tried doing the girl's movements, but I kept going in the wrong direction. And I was the only guy standing among all the females doing that weird step movement and placing my hand on her shoulders and going *ting*! Huai Ying says "TOO BAD." Bleagh.

Carmen and Natania turned up in school with their grey uniforms today. HILARIOUS, especially when I'm so used to them in their RV whites. Kai Jie's quite right I guess; soon the whole NJ population will turn grey and all those colourful mix of other uniforms will be gone. Community. Identity. Stopped short of stability.

Priceless moment #1: I was late for Geography lecture, so I turned back and asked Hilda what Ms Ting was teaching now, and she didn't know cos she was doing her Physics homework. Her glazed look on her face and going "Physics??"

Priceless moment #2: Was walking up the stairs towards the canteen after PE, met Celine and she stared at me, thinking that I was horribly late for school. Her incredulous look on her face and going "You're sooo late??"

Priceless moment #3: I told Siew that the water level markings on my olive-green bottle is fading, and she thought it was the olive-greeness that's fading. Her serious look on her face and going "Huh you mean the water will turn green??"

Monday 6 March 2006

I had a fun weekend. But I can't remember much of it. My memory has disallowed me to recall all my activities for the weekend because I lost the password to it.

Let's talk about today instead. I woke up earlier than usual, got to school carrying Liyana's birthday cake, and found out that it was Han Kit and Wen Hao's birthday today as well! Yup so HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO SHAWN TAN HAN KIT, DELLA, LIYANA AND WEN HAO! Oh did I mention? On the bus to school I was drawing plant and animal cells meant as a test for Hai Hao, and I thought it was really nicely-drawn so I couldn't resist showing it to Sara. HAHA. Then later at morning assembly, I got a pencil from Sera (she's in Hwa Chong JC now) and a flower sharpener from Atiqah! Yeps I keep mixing up Sera from Sara from Sarah. Eeps.

School was quite good I guess, although I fell asleep during the characteristics-of-Herbert lecture. Thanks Nani for lending me your Brave New World text, or else I'll be skipping Ms Teo's tutorial again. And thanks to Ms Koh for allowing us to celebrate Liyana's birthday during Geography tutorial! I fell asleep again during that Bright Sparks talk...

Our entire class was supposed to stay back till 4pm just for a Principal's dialogue session, so I went studying in the library with my classmates, and at 3.55pm, Qiling told us all that the dialogue session was cancelled because the P had a last-minute meeting. CRAP. If I had known I'll have gone home to sleep. But oh well I headed straight to Jericho for Hai Hao's tuition. He scored 14 out of 20 for my test! And thanks too to Yurong who helped me buy cheese fries!

Yeppers that was my day. It wasn't great, but it was good enough.

Thursday 2 March 2006

I just realised that quite a lot of people read this blog regularly. Yep this big ol' blog of mine. And the most disturbing fact was that many of these people read my entries so regularly that it's almost daily. OH GOSH. It's only recently that I discovered many of my friends can almost recite quotations off my blog entries. Or worse, they seem to know all my life events and everything that I'm doing currently, even though I have never once told them anything about it.

I seriously doubt anyone would be that interested in reading all the accounts of my daily life. Okie my life is not that interesting but still it is interesting enough. Sometimes I think my days are so mundane and repetitive that I force myself to do crazy stuff, and all these crazy stuff end up in my blog entries. HAHA. Reminds me of the new Singapore Navy advertisement: If your life were a movie, would it be a good one? I sure hope mine would be a blockbuster hit. (:

I'm kind of uncomfortable by the fact that people are reading my entries without telling me or tagging. Not that I have to censor stuff from this blog, but I think it's just more reassuring to know that you've got a fixed audience.

Haha maybe it's because I'm reading all my friends blogs on my links page, and I don't tag all the time either. OKIEEEEE......

Do me a favour will ya? Drop me a message to say that you're one of the regular readers, and I'll really appreciate it. At least it helps me identify all my stalkers.
