Okay! Here's an update on my life for the past 36 hours! It's going to be an extremely long post, because I did a lot of things in the past 36 hours. And I'm lazy to paragraph this blog entry, so it's going to be one huge block of words. You can choose not to read this entry if you don't wish to, but I strongly encourage you do since you're already here. Hee hee! Okay here we go. Yesterday 10am I met Shuba, Azliza and Shao Jie to go Underwater World! Shuba applied for ASA card, so we all got to go in for free!! Hooray! Under normal circumstances, admission to Underwater World and Dolphin Lagoon is $19.50 per person, so you can imagine the amount of money we would be paying for 4 of us. The place is still pretty much in the same layout as I recall of it in my primary school days! Yes that's the last time I was there. I like the shallow pool thingy where we can touch all the fish and starfish and stingrays! I like the stingrays best! They are the friendliest because they will swim towards you expecting food, and they will flip at you in a adorable manner. And I saw seahorses! And there's this whole section devoted to the crabs and all its different species. I saw jellyfish too! And sponges and corals and tubeworms and a lot other creatures. So cool right! But of course, the highlight of the entire place was the oceanarium. It was this moving track thing for 83 metres and you get to see the sharks and all the fish swimming. And there's this Gracie the dugong who was rescued off Pulau Ubin! Oh my gosh I had a very fun time there. Then we went to the retail shop and I got myself an orca cap! It's black and has a fin and I can wear it on my head and it has teeth too! It costed me like $10.90 but I figured it was worth it because I've been wanting it since I started work in Sentosa and I've seen guests wearing the shark caps. And Shuba bought us a flowery flowery light-up pen each too. I got Ariel the mermaid! She's wearing a bikini. Hahaha! Okay after Underwater World we went to Koufu to have lunch! Chicken chops and steak and fish and chips! I met this guy named Joshua over there. As in, I know him by face only because I always see him at our Beach Station everyday, and I know he's probably working somewhere along the beaches, except that I don't know where. Yesterday this Joshua just so happened to be at Koufu for lunch, and he was wearing an Animal Encounters polo tee. That means my dad is his boss! Hahahaha!! I told him that and he didn't believe me. Then later my dad dropped by to say hi too, because he was at Koufu for lunch too. HEE HEE! Yay finally I have to chance to say "my dad is your boss" to someone!! After lunch, we went back to our Beach Station to hang around, then back to Sentosa Station to eat Azliza's leftover Ben & Jerry's in the pantry. Shuba had to go for a meeting, so me, Az and Shao Jie took the ASA card and went for a 2-way cable car trip! That would have costed us $10.90 per person, but it was free with the card too. Cable car was kinda scary for me. I don't like to be suspended 50 metres above ground. And there wasn't much to see anyway too, but it was quite fun! When the cable car took us up to Mount Faber, I thought we were back in Sentosa already, because we stopped earlier at Harbourfront Centre first. HAHAHA! Okay you might not understand this. But never mind. After cable car, we wanted to go back to Beach Station again, but we were lazy to take our beloved Express trains. So we used our "connections" with the Luge people, and they allowed us a free ride down on the Luge! They're nice nice people. Then we met up with Alvin and Devin and Elaine, and we hung around outside Coffee Bean waiting for the rest of the people. Waiting for the rest of our colleagues from Sentosa and Imbiah Station to go Cafe Del Mar! When they all arrived I think there were like 30 of us altogether?? I walked them to Cafe Del Mar only. I didn't want to join in because I'm doing the first ticketing shift the next day and that meant that I have to be awake by 4am! So I went home shortly after that. So sad right?? But I must need my 8 hours of sleep. And anyway, Cafe Del Mar is quite pretty! It's an open lounge concept on the beach, and the bar inside is quite funky too. I walked back to Beach Station, was at Info counter with Shermin for a while, then one of our Beach Station escalator glass panels cracked! But then I was on my way home already, so that wasn't really my business hahaha. And this morning, I woke up at 4am with only 5 hours of sleep! So I was very sleepy in the morning. I opened the Station with Irin today. And the whole morning whizzed by without much incident, because it was an extremely peaceful day today. The Otis people came to replace the broken glass panel with a wooden board. So now our escalators look really ugly cos got one wooden block there. Elton and me spent our day looking out for pretty girls again! Hahaha. Then after work, I met up with Xin Yan and Farhan and Shuba! They were at Underwater World earlier in the morning today, and they were heading for Merlion and Images of Singapore after that! So I happily joined in since it's free anyway. All of us acted stupid at Merlion, because we told the attractions staff over there we want to go to "meh-leon"!! I think the Merlion is a horrid place to go. You pay $8 a person for a silly cartoon video and the open-air gallery on top which is like 37 metres tall only and you get a free gift at the end. Don't go Merlion! It's ugly and the air inside stinks. Then we went to Images of Singapore! Then we kept saying "image 4 standby" because we always hear it on our walkies and it's quite annoying sometimes! So we teased the attractions people about it. But I think they are quite nice people! Oh oh! We met one of the actors inside the gallery! It's kinda scary because all the wax figurines look super real, and we don't know which is a real human being and which isn't! So we were looking at this suspicious "figure" who was in one of the galleries, and the "figure" was nodding his head because he's supposed to be asleep. So we stood in front of the "figure" for a long time, trying to decide if he's a real human being. We even touched his knee! Then he suddenly sprang to life and said hello. HAHAHA!! Freaky. Then Farhan had to go for work, so me and Shuba and Xin Yan went on our free cable car trip again!! Shuba alighted at Harbourfront Centre because she was going home, so it was only me and Xin Yan left. We wanted to go the Sentosa Flowers to pluck flowers! The entire exhibition is closed already, but the flowers are still there, and the people told us we can even take the whole tree home if we wanted to. HAHAHA! Xin Yan and me wanted to smuggle this small rocking horse back to our Beach Station, but we didn't dare in the end. Then we went back to our Station to take a loop trip on the beach tram, cos we had nothing to do! The Palawan/Tanjong beach tram service takes about 20 minutes to make a full loop, and both of us wanted to fall asleep and go one more round since it's free anyway. And then I waited for Jeremy and Elton to finish work before taking the train back to Sentosa Station. Oh oh! I stole one whole pot of flowers from the Sentosa Flowers! I hid it behind the male toilet. It shall be my plant!! Vincent don't allow me to put it in Beach Station. WEH. HAHAHA!!What a day, and what a yesterday. Tomorrow I'm going Underwater World again with Jeremy!! Haha I don't think I'm sick of it. Okay I need to sleep. I will upload the photos some other time.

Monday 26 February 2007

Yay! I'm in a very very happy mood. I've got no reason to be sad, so I might as well be happy! The past two days at work has been a blast. Platform rover from 1.30pm to 10pm on both days. I haven't worked from 1.30pm to 10pm for quite some time already, and frankly speaking I don't like the timing! It's like, not morning and not night shift. It's right smack in the middle of the day/night. Hui Mian agrees with me! But then rover-ing is fun. When my ICs leave me alone on top, I'm very happy. But even when I have a rover partner, it's still havoc! Thanks Subra and Jeremy and Xin Yan and Wai Shin! You people are funny.

Ooh! I met 2 more new friends today! Hahaha I'm like meeting new people everyday! But this one is exciting, because they are not working in Sentosa. They are just normal guests that we see everyday. Two very pretty girls! And one of them WITH CURLY HAIR!! They very pretty okay!! I first saw them alighting at Beach Station. Then they came back, and I was coincidentally on my way to buy dinner back too, so we were on the same train! Ask Devin. Devin thinks they are pretty too. Then I even guided them how to go to Imbiah Station! They very pretty!! Especially the curly hair one because I think she looks very good with curls in her hair. And I asked them for their names!! Blah. I should have asked for their contact numbers or something.

I was playing bingo with Xin Yan the whole night today! Not much people today, since Sentosa Flowers ended yesterday and Chinese New Year is long over. Xin Yan very lousy at bingo because she never won me a single time! The best she ever did was a draw with me once. Now she owes me 5 Big Gulps. Then we radioed Subra on the walkie and he said "come over" instead of "send over". HAHAHAHA!!

I'm not working tomorrow. But I'm going back to Sentosa to play again. I think my life now is very boring! I'm going to Sentosa everyday to either work or play. But tomorrow Shuba's bringing some of us to Underwater World for free because she applied for the WAVE card. I'm going to find Mabel over there! Then I'm going to buy souvenirs from the retail shop. Then I'm going to see all the sharks and fish and water snails and corals. Then I must plan a tour there because I still must go back there with Yurong next week. So exciting!! Do you think Mabel is working tomorrow??

Some of us are going to Cafe Del Mar tomorrow too! Hahaha I'm going clubbing! So uncommon of me right?? But my mum refuses to let me stay out late because I've got ticketing at 6.15am the next day. And today I met someone from Cafe Del Mar who said to go find him if I want free drinks. For what?? I don't drink alcoholic drinks! So I told him if I can get free Sprite or something, and he said okay! Hahaha! But too bad he's not working tomorrow. Nahh I still want to go there all the same. We have thousands of guests coming every night just to go there, and they come back to our Station drunk like dead bees.

You know, I was looking up into the sky on the way home just now, and I spotted Orion's Belt. It was a wonderfully clear sky tonight, so I could see most of the major stars. Mintaka, Alnilam and Alnitak, the three stars that make up the Belt. I know a bit of astrology because Jun Ying taught me abit the last time and I read up abit into astro because I was slightly interested too!

I think it's one of those magical, meaningful nights tonight. Looking at the stars reminds me of some nice memories that I had in the past. Trying to count the number of stars in the sky, or walking along and stargazing, or looking out for shooting stars... I've gone starry-eyed many times. Somehow it's always the girls that like stars most, because they think it's romantic blah blah. Hee hee! But I've kept every single promise with everyone who said they want to stargazing. There's something about stars that you just cannot break promises like that with girls.

In case you're wondering, I'm not that flirty!! I go stargazing with my mummy too! But next time if I want to propose to my girlfriend, I will make sure it's not a cloudy night before proposing.

I told the "someone" about the magical phrase thingy (read blog entry 5 days back) already. Next time I shall try and be more secretive!! Stay away from my dark dark closet of secrets. Roar!

Sunday 25 February 2007

I forgot to mention. Two days ago was my 6th month anniversary with my good good "girlfriend" Eleanor. Yesh it's been a mighty long time since that fateful day half a year back, and both of us have went through a great deal since then. But still, it's 6 months already!! Yay! Thanks for all the time spent together, for all the wonderful memories and crazy moments, for all the sleepovers and for all the support and encouragement!! You're one of a kind in a million birds.

Which got me thinking about some issues again too. I mean, it was a common grief that drew the two of us closer in the first place. I don't know about you Eleanor, but in my heart there's always that empty space just meant for her. And I just don't feel right about it. It's a life-changing event definitely, but I certainly don't think God has meant for my life to remain so desolate after so many years. It has changed the way I look at things. It has changed my outlook and my perspective of life and love.

And in another corner of my heart, there's a huge load of guilt. I'm an evasive person. I don't like to face my troubles. I want to escape from them. And everytime I think of that pile of guilt, I try and preoccupy myself with other thoughts so that I don't have to think about them. But I do wish I can say sorry and replace that guilt with love, just like what I did earlier on.

Right now, I'm just taking things step by step. A part of me wants it badly, but another part of me has its own reservations. I'm struggling to be responsible for my actions. And it's not helping when I keep getting mixed signals.

So kill me. Leave me to die and feed my still-living carcass to the vultures. I want to feel them tearing at my flesh.

Saturday 24 February 2007

Okay let's blog about yesterday first! I didn't go to see Sentosa Flowers yesterday (I went today instead) as I said I wanted to, because I initially planned to go take nice nice photos of random people and flowers and figurines, but my sister took the camera. So I went for lunch with my mum instead, and I went for work slightly too early because I had nothing better to do. Was on the midnight ticketing shift, together with Irin and Elton. But Irin had to go back for some meeting, so she left me and Elton to do closing! Irin made it sound like it's a enormous task, but I've done closing before so it's not that bad. Looking at hot babes and playing bingo with Elton. The only thing we didn't do was we didn't tell OCC that the last train can leave our Station, and they were calling for us on the wrong walkie channel. Haha!

Ooh! An abnormal thing which happened was that within a short 45 minutes, we had two loss reports at our Beach Station. Two different groups of guests lost their cameras, and both groups came to us for help. Elton and me were like walking around outside, trying to see if we might find any lost cameras. Then we spotted this 3 people sitting outside Coffee Bean with a camera, and they were acting suspiciously! They were examining their camera like it's the first time they are looking at it. So we were trying to decide if we should go up to them and see if their camera fits one of the lost ones, but we felt that it might seem very rude if we just approach them like that. We even played the "please do not leave your belongings unattended" message just to see if they look guilty! In the end they left Coffee Bean without us seeing them leave. Blah. I'm dead sure it's them, cos they look so suspicious.

Then I was the last to be sent home on the taxi last night!! The taxi had to go to Clementi first, then Yew Tee area, then Yishun, then finally Bishan! By the time I reached home it was like way past 2am. Normally I'm among the first few and I can reach home before 1.30am. But it's okay because it was my favourite Mercedes taxi auntie! She always got a lot of interesting stories to tell, and she's the only one of all the taxi drivers who knows exactly where to drive all the way to my block.

And yep. Today! I'm not working today!! My last off day was exactly one week ago, which is a long long time ago. Chinese New Year was the busy period. Anyway, I went back to Sentosa with Chiew Yee, Jin Jen and Qiling! We wanted to go find Annie because it's her last day working at Sentosa Flowers. And also because I want to go see the Flowers because it's the second last day today. I think the exhibitions were very nice! The entire place was filled with colourful flowers and figurines from various nursery rhymes. It's a very nice concept! And it helps even more that I'm interested in all these flowers, so it adds to my appreciation of the entire Flowers show!

Oh oh! I forgot to mention! I finally have my new temporary staff pass! It's contactless like EZ-Link, so I can tap in and out at all the Sentosa Express Stations myself! And I can enter Sentosa for free! Yay! Yar back to my story. We found Annie at some photo booth near Imbiah Station, then chatted and took photos with her. Chiew Yee and Qiling bought one those helium balloons! If you ask me, I think it's a waste of money to spend more than $10 for a balloon. Haha okay Chiew Yee got a dog balloon, while Qiling got a fat goldfish floating in the air.

We went to play Luge! I managed to get 4 tickets at half price, because I was flirting with Sharlene at the ticketing counter. Haha! But she's really very very very pretty okay! But she's attached already, if not both me and Elton will be fighting for her. And since the Luge staff takes our Sentosa Express to work and back home everyday, I know most of them there! Yay next time I'll be more thick-skinned and ask for free rides. Haha! Anyway, our tickets only specified one Luge and one Skyride, but the Luge people were nice enough to give us one more free ride because Chiew Yee and Qiling deposited their balloon pets with them and Joey (my favourite Luge person) told us to go get helmets again, so we had another Luge ride for free! And we were playing the Luge in the rain, and towards the end I braked so hard that I skidded for one full round! See Jeremy you can try drifting on the Luge!

Then before we went out of Sentosa, we went back to my Beach Station. Then Chiew Yee and Qiling decided to get an airbrushed tattoo and henna respectively. Me and JJ spent the least money in Sentosa!! And I wanted to take photos with Ke Xin but she was busy, and with Natasha too but she disappeared. Weh! Tomorrow's the last time I'll see them around cos Flowers is ending tomorrow. It's a bit weird to go back to Sentosa cos everywhere I'll meet colleagues or people I know. I got contacts in Attractions, Transport, Flowers, retail, food (including SAKAE SUSHI!!), blah blah. That means I must be very sociable! Yay!! I'm so popular and hot and sexy.

After Sentosa we went back to Vivo for lunch/dinner, and walking around and shopping with the 3 girls. Next time I'll go shopping at Vivo with my mum, and try and see if she pays for all the clothes that I want or something. Then we walked like super long just to search for this donut shop in Vivo! Last night 2 girls offered me a donut at our Station because they couldn't finish it. And the donut was yummy (cos I was hungry), so I wanted to try and find it. Some more shopping before we all went home.

With Annie!

With the Ace of Spades. Hahaha!

And just before Luge. I'm going to be extremely nice to the Luge people from now on!

There are a lot more photos! Click here.

Friday 23 February 2007

Yep. Yesterday I was doing rover alone on the platform for most of the morning too. Very happy! Until Aini came for work and joined me on top. Then we wrecked havoc and talked nonsense. We live like, 4 or 5 blocks away from each other?? HAHA!! Yay I found another person to join the "Bishan is good" gang.

I met a lot of new "colleagues" in the past 2 days! They are not at Beach Station, but they are still colleagues cos they are all working at Sentosa Flowers. And a lot of them like to take the Express to Imbiah Station because they are lazy to walk.

Anyway, I've got work later at 4pm. But I'm going to go early to Sentosa to see the Flowers. I want to take photos.

Wednesday 21 February 2007

Today was an extremely good day at work! Train platform rover today, so that means I got to wear that funky walkie. And we made used of all the barricades and queue poles left behind from Chinese New Year to control the crowd. The amount of people today wasn't as many as the past 3 CNY days, but there was still a considerable crowd going for the Sentosa Flowers. Vincent left me alone on the platform for 5 or 6 hours today. I like!! I think I function best when I'm the lone rover. Whee.

One of our sliding platform doors was down for maintenance for half an hour. Then trains kept getting delayed and causing huge crowds on the platform. And we have to pack all these people into the trains, so we delay the trains even further. And OCC kept sending trains back to depot for maintenance! But the crowd wasn't too large or too bad. I must have been a good rover hahahaha!

Anyway, there's this holding area on the platform to hold the waiting crowd, and when the train comes I'll slide open the queue poles after everyone has alighted from the train. I decided to get kids to help me slide open the queue poles!! There's this little girl named Rachel. She's very cute!! Then she opened the queue poles in a very responsible way because I told her it's a very important job. Hee hee!

Then after I was supposed to knock off at 4.30pm, I was lazy to go back, so I hung around at Beach Station for 2 hours. Went to the Sentosa Flowers booths with Wayne. Then I was at info counter while Elaine went for a short break. Some guest came to me with his temporary islander family pass totally shreded!! Apparently his son decided to tear up the temporary pass (paper, not the hard hard plastic), and he wanted to see if we can replace it! Hahaha!! Elaine did jigsaw puzzle and scotch-taped the entire card back. Info counter is quite fun actually! And and, I think I confused the hell out of some of those attractions staff over the walkie. HAHA! Elton's idea!

Someone made my day without even intending to do so today. You know, I think sometimes the most innocent and innocuous-sounding remark that you say can be the sweetest language to someone else. I still remember my Dale Carnegie workshop, where they told us that a person's own name is the sweetest sound in any language to himself/herself. But sometimes, certain words or phrases mean more to a person than to others. Today someone uttered that magical phrase that melted my heart. No one's ever said that to me in the past year and a half, or possibly more. So, thank you for making me feel appreciated, even though you won't know who you are or what you said unless I tell you in person. Which I don't think I plan to.

8 hours of sleep! Hello my dear bed. I'm sleeping on you soon.

Tuesday 20 February 2007

You know, my Chinese New Year was really terrible this year. I had work on all three days, and I didn't do any visiting at all. I didn't even go visiting at my grandma's place like we always do every year, all because I had to be on time for work. I'm so sad! The only thing that made me happy was that my family had reunion dinner together. Other than that, I've spent the past 3 days working at Sentosa. SO SAD.

Crowd control was terrible. Towards the late afternoons and early evenings, we'll start to have a super long queue waiting to get into the Station to go out of Sentosa. And we'll have to let people in batch by batch because our train platform is crowded like nuts and the trains have a limited capacity. And most people don't like to wait for more than half an hour, so we have to try and control a tired and grumpy crowd. Blah it's really chaotic.

Ooh. Annie started work at Sentosa Flowers yesterday. She had angel wings! Funky. I met Tis and Mel yesterday too! Their whole family came down to play. I met Shao Hong too! Whee.

I think people who have some form of inferior complex tends to be more astute and more level-headed. Okay maybe that's just my personal opinion. But I think it's true. They more than make up for their lack of ability to socialise easily by being extremely observant.

I made a new friend a few days ago. Her name's Mabel, and she's working at Underwater World.

Okay. Sleeping time.

Monday 19 February 2007

Gosh I'm so stupidly tired. It's the first day of Chinese New Year and I'm working more than 10 hours! The time now is 2am. Okay la I think almost everyone worked a lot more hours than usual today. I think Alvin clocked about 15 hours of work. Whoopee.

Extremely crowded today. When I was at Sentosa Station, I got a shock when I saw the amount of people queueing up to get tickets. The entire concourse was filled with people! And mind you, the concourse is really big, like the space at Esplanade. Then I passed by the gantry and it was crowded with people too. My dad told me later it was a fifty thousand crowd!! My gosh. I don't get why people will even want to go out, especially on CNY when everywhere's closed and it's the usual places like Chinatown, Sentosa etc etc that are always crowded.

Anyway, I was on ticketing today! Alvin was on the first ticketing shift, and when I took over from him, his sales money almost hit a thousand!! I was astounded already. I mean, if Beach Station gets almost a thousand in a single shift, then wouldn't Sentosa Station be like, calculating money by tens of thousands? I broke my own sales record again. Almost 400 bucks. And I sold a few Imbiah packages!! I normally don't like to do Imbiah packages because I'll ask guests to go down to Imbiah Station to buy. But it's chaotic today, so I processed it for them! Yay.

And yup, it was a real battlefield out there. Our train platform was full; we had to hold people from entering the Station; we had a long queue all the way to the bus bay (which is a very long queue); and we got formidable-looking barricades to hold the crowd. First time we played the "overwhelming response" message! I think we had people who waited for an hour just to enter the Station. Trains were mostly full. But I think it was even worse at Imbiah Station.

I was on ticketing almost the whole day. And I was mostly alone in the ticketing counter too!! Nobody was free enough to come and talk to me. And nobody to help me. And nobody had the time to go for break or to go resting in the back-of-house. It's stressful! I was handling so much money and tickets, and I still have to monitor the CCTVs and answer phone calls and listen to the walkie. I got 3 separate occasions when guests screamed at me. They hated the long waiting time, or they want refund, or they lost their tour guide. What can I do if you lost your tour guide??? Shermin brought them to me somemore!! Blee.

OOH! This lady from Beijing started feeling uncomfortable in the crowd, so we allowed her and her daughter into our back-of-house to rest! She said she got heart problems, and everyone else was busy so there were only me, her and her daughter left in the ticketing counter. Her daughter's name is Wawa (in Chinese). So cool right! In the end we called taxi for them.

Tomorrow's going to be another crazy day. We're expecting even more people. I'm going to visit Annie at Sentosa Flowers!! Haha! Okie this is a insane CNY. When people are impatient, they hurl a million vulgarities at you. They push and shove. Whee. If I were them I would have just stayed at home. I mean, it's obviously a busy day! How can you demand for speed and efficiency on a public holiday when the entire place is packed??

I want to do rover tomorrow. I want to impose order and exercise my authority and shout at people. I shall try and learn how to argue in a loud voice and still be reasonably polite at the same time. WHEE.

Saturday 17 February 2007

Not working today! Which wasn't a bad thing because I got to catch up on my sleep. But I like working on Saturdays! Blah it's okay I think I'm working next Saturday. But then again I think I may not be working next Saturday! I'm lazy to check the schedule.

I slept till noon this morning. Then I watched Kids Central from 1pm till 2.30pm! It's my weekly Saturday afternoon TV programmes. Hahaha! There's Splash Zone and Junior Jams and Bring Your Toothbrush! It's nice okay I've been watching these shows every Saturday for about a month now. I like Bring Your Toothbrush best.

Today is Chinese New Year Eve! I got reunion dinner tonight. My grandma's coming over later. My mum's preparing the dinner now. I'm going to help her later! Every year my Chinese New Year celebrations only involves my grandma. She'll come over to our house for reunion dinner, then we'll visit her house (together with my father's side aunt and uncle) on some other day. And if I'm lucky, some nice friend of mine will invite me over to their house.

But I think this year it's going to be quite mundane. I've got work all 3 days during Chinese New Year! Tomorrow is the crazy one. I'm doing the midnight ticketing and closing shift tomorrow, and Vincent told me to stand-by to report for work 2 hours early because there's a huge crowd expected.

It's going to be the 6th month anniversary soon. Me and Eleanor. Nooo I got nothing to say to you. Except that your bed is very comfy.

I'm waiting for Chiew Yee to call me! HURRY UP.

Friday 16 February 2007

I think I must have been crazy. Last night at 8pm, I decided to go to bed really early because I have to be awake in time for the first ticketing shift today. But at 9pm I was on my way to Eleanor's house! She invited me over for another one of our stayovers. And I told myself why not, since I've been doing stupid things all week. This time the stayover is more of a sleepover, because I plonked onto her bed and slept like a pig. Then at 3am I was on my way back home in a taxi. Showered, brushed my teeth, changed, ate a bit of breakfast, and by 5am I was in another taxi with Irin and Sok Han, going towards Vivo office. At 7am I was in another taxi bound for Beach Station.

Today was my first time doing the first ticketing shift! It's a really important job because we have to make sure Beach Station is in operation before the first train arrives. But it's quite slack because there's no one around at 7am, and the time passes so much quicker. Oh oh. I was with Irin! She got super stressed because this new girl called Jing Hui decided not to come for work today, and she was afraid Jeremy might not wake up in time for his rover duties at 8am! Then we miss-called him like 3 billion times, and I was still telling Irin that it'll just be the two of us running the Station until 10am. And then Jeremy sauntered in happily. He refused to pick up our calls cos he wanted us to panic and think that he's still sleeping.

My ticket dispenser jammed the whole day. 90% of my printed tickets were the result of me manually inserting the cards into the darn machine. And Irin "helped" me void 3 transactions!! I don't like to void transactions when I'm ticketing because it means more work and more sorting to do. But she happily pressed VOID so many times!! Yuck.

The most scary thing that happened today was this tourist who came into our Station with a huge blood stain on his trousers, at his left shin. And it was weird because there were no visible cuts or injuries on his leg, and he didn't feel any pain at all. The guest said he had some syndrome which caused him to have lesser veins in his leg than a normal person, so maybe some capillaries burst or something. And I even got out the first-aid box and was ready to help stop whatever bleeding, but there were no cuts!! In the end we called Rangers and they brought him to Beach Patrol for more first-aid, cos he didn't want to go to the hospital.

Ooh. Elton, Jeremy, Irin and me went to play Luge again. We are going so often that we're embarrassed to keep asking for complimentary tickets to go in. Elton and me were side by side and travelling at the same speed towards the end!! Blee.

I rushed down from Sentosa back to corps, because I was leading worship for youth service tonight! I played guitar and led worship at the same time!! So exciting right?? But it's really tough because my fingers were tired and I'm trying to focus on singing and playing at the same time and my guitar pick dropped midway and my throat gave way after too many high notes. It's Friendship Friday tonight! Haha! I ate loads of boiled potatoes and baby carrots.

Alrighty. Time for me to go to bed. I'm off from work tomorrow. Which is a good thing, because it's Chinese New Year Eve, and I'm going to be working on all 3 days for CNY. OOH did I mention? I'm feeling emo now. A lot of things happening in my life and a lot of things on my mind too. I shall blog more about it tomorrow. Haha.

Thursday 15 February 2007

I'm suffering from a horrible lack of sleep. I've been sleeping for about 6 or 7 hours each day, and that's obviously not enough for me. I need my 8 hours of sleep a day!! Now I'm just drowsy and droopy, like Nutseed when I disturb her and she wakes up from a really good sleep.

Today at work was quite good. I was rover in the morning! I'm telling you I function best when I'm left alone on the train platform. I don't like to have an assistant rover! I'm equivalent to 5000 rovers on the platform. And this morning, Shuba left me up there alone for 4 hours. HAPPY HAPPY!! Then I went for lunch with Elaine and Shermin. It was my first time eating in the staff pantry! Most of the time I go back to my Beach Station to eat. Then after lunch, I swapped duties with Xin Yan, since we were on the same work shift.

I must mention this! Every Station on the Sentosa Express are given like 2 or 3 multiple entry cards each, and our Beach Station has 2. Those doing Guest Relations are supposed to use them to allow entry for guests who came in by cable car, for staff, for guests with damaged passes, etc etc etc. And those multiple cards are important because 2 is the limit for us. If we damage them we must return them back to the office to get new ones! So today, one of the cards spoilt and Devin went back to office to get a new one. But you know what Shuba did?? Barely 2 minutes after we got the new card, she accidentally crumpled it and threw it away because she saw "Images of Singapore" printed on the card. Then she thought it was some invalid pass. HAHAHA!! She had to walk around to search for the cleaner auntie to look through all the thrash just to retrieve the card. But it was already too damaged. BLEE.

OHH. I met my eyecandy twice today. And I even went up to the platform to pretend that I was doing the checklist, just so I can say goodbye to her.

Okay, I badly need my sleep. I have to wake up at 4am tomorrow!!! I'm on the first ticketing shift, so that means I'll be opening the Station with Irin. Crazy.

Wednesday 14 February 2007

Valentine's Day today! Haha. Today at work was quite interesting. Loads of weird people for some reason. Slacked the morning away, then went for lunch with Xin Yan at Koufu. Met my daddy who's having lunch there too! In the afternoon I was supposed to take care of this new girl working at our station! Her name's Wai Shin, and she's like older than me but I'm like instructing her the things to do and not to do. Brought her around on a tour of our Station. Was on the train platform with her the whole afternoon.

Then after work, a few of us went to play Luge! Shuba, Alvin and Shao Jie came back to Sentosa on their off day just to play, while me, Irin and Shermin went after our work. I'm absolutely positive there's something wrong with my luge when I took it for the first time today, cos it's super slow and the whole world's overtaking me! The second time was better, except Shuba banged me hard from behind.

We hopped over to Imbiah Station to see them put up the finishing touches for Sentosa Flowers. The figurines and flowers and everything are very nice! Then we went up the Sky Tower. Then we decided to go back to the beach to go to the Southernmost Point. Whee what a tiring day!

Shermin and me went for dinner after that. Wanted to go to the new Marche at Vivo, but it was crowded like nuts. And so was Burger King. Must have been the Valentine's Day crowd. In the end we came back to Bishan to eat at Kopitiam. HAHAHA!

I think love is a very ambivalent matter. I never know exactly how I'm feeling at any given moment, and that gets even more complicated when it comes to love. Eleanor says I'm wishy-washy, which in my opinion is the best word to describe me. I feel like I'm compelled to make a decision as to how I should feel. Normally they say feelings are natural, but for me I have to decide how I should feel. So queer!

OOH. I know some of the pretty pretty Tourism Academy girls working at the Luge now! I tried some cheesy conversation starter with one of them in the morning, then I let the rest of them out through the swing gate without checking for their passes, and they said I'm so nice! Then later in the day while we're going to play Luge, I met the whole bunch of them about to go home, so I said bye to them and they said bye back!! Hahaha I think Elton's gonna be jealous.

I think this is one of my nicest photos taken on Skyride. With Shermin!

I don't know this girl. But I think she's very cute standing with those two soldiers.

The 6 of us, with this guy called Stephen from Attractions (Fort Siloso).

At the Sky Tower.

Rice and laksa for dinner.

There's a lot more nice nice photos over here. Why don't you go look through them slowly. I want to sleep.

Monday 12 February 2007

My dreadful cold is gone! And I'm not coughing as much as I did 2 days ago. I think my throat is a lot better now. But I'm not touching any cold drinks and I'm not going to eat fried food for this whole week! I want to get better. My mum is forcing me to drink green bean soup.

Alright here's more about work! Yesterday night I was on ticketing, with Vincent and Hui Mian on the midnight shift. Kinda cool, especially when the three of us are on the same midnight shift for both the weekends. I think Vincent is too work-crazy! He's like, almost too ready to do any kind of work, while I'm just inclined to sit there unless I'm needed. And he comes back to Sentosa on his off days too! Blee. But he's a good IC. He told me all about his Thailand trip. Closing sales was a breeze too.

Today! It's a Monday, so it was quite peaceful. I spent the morning stock checking the number of brochures there were in the info counter! What a dumb task. But it was troublesome, even with Melissa's help. Well it was peaceful until Irin decided to go back Sentosa Station, and she left me with her keys so I'm temporary IC. Then the turn-stile spoilt, then ticket dispenser jammed, then I had to reload new tickets cos they ran out, then three million phone calls, then one train went back to depot without us being informed (had to shoo guests out who were already inside), then the trains got suspended for like half an hour, and two guests came to me to ask for refund when they were severely delayed. Nuts! But it all turned out alright.

Ooh. I went Harbourfront Centre for lunch with Xin Yan and Shao Jie. Ate at Yoshinoya. But I still want my Macs and Burger King meals soon.

Subra was me and Elton's understudy for ticketing today! Yay now I'm a teacher hahaha. He's a very fast learner cos he got all the nuances in a few hours. Then at the end of my shift, I discovered that I had $3 extra in my sales! Shuba's (not Subra) fault! She gave someone lesser change than they should have gotten, and they didn't check either.

Jeremy gave me my eyecandy's Friendster profile!! OH GOSH I'M SO EXCITED!! I think she's really very pretty!! And the way she described her Favourite Books etc etc is so cute! AAHHH!! Oh did I mention? I saw her yesterday while she was having break, and she called me by name! I didn't even notice her until she called me! And when I'm not working, I get messages from all my colleagues who inform me that my "red hair girl is in the station now".

But her Friendster gallery has a lot of photos of her in a bikini!! Eeyer I don't like. Don't ask me why. I don't really fancy girls who prance around in revealing bikinis. EEEE. If I had a girlfriend I'll disallow her to do so. But right now it's okay cos red hair girl is just eyecandy! And I still think she's pretty. Oh yar her email's there too! Should I add her on MSN or something?? Hahahaha! If I'm crazy enough, maybe I will.

I'm off tomorrow!! If I can't find people to go out with tomorrow, I shall emo with my hamster. Tomorrow shall be my EMO DAY. Vera told me once that guys who are about to go army soon tend to be very emo. I don't think I am! So I shall try to be.

Sunday 11 February 2007

Another 2am post. I seem to be doing a lot of midnight shifts. But it's okay I like them. I'm very sad now because I'm falling sick! Having a horrible cold. I think it's the Beach Station virus, because Jeremy and Elton are both sick too. I took a flu pill last night and I drank the cough syrup too! But I didn't get a lot better. Only a teenie bit.

Anyway, it was very busy today. Weekends are always crazy. I did ticketing today, and my ticket dispenser jammed a few million times. Stupid cards will come out unprinted and you have to keep trying and trying. There's always a long queue outside my ticketing counter! And I'm having a blocked nose, so I was trying to breathe through my mouth while talking to the guests at the same time, and there were so many people and I have to fix the ticket jams while talking to people!! Then I got a terrible headache. But things were better after 9pm, when dispenser finally decided to behave and there were lesser people.

Saturday nights are probably the most funky nights! Everyone's going clubbing at Cafe Del Mar because the next day is Sunday so they can party for the whole night. Then they will all wear their nice nice clothes and there'll be all the handsome guys and pretty girls!! And half of them are quite hot. Whoo! Then they'll come back by around 11pm to be in time for the last train, and they'll be drunk by then.

There was these 2 guys who requested to take a photo with me! It was totally random. I gave them my email and told them to send the photo to me, so I'll post it up here soon. Hahaha! Then I heard on the walkie that there were people who got so drunk that they puked at Sentosa Station. And there were people (most probably drunk too) at our Beach Station taxi stand playing with hoola hoops. Haha there were a lot of weird incidents la! Saturday nights are funky.

I'm very sad that I didn't follow my dinner schedule today! I actually planned to have MacDonalds for dinner today and Burger King tomorrow, and I even told Shermin about it! I was eagerly looking forward to my break okay! But when it was break I happily forgot all about going back to Vivo to get my Macs, and I was halfway to Koufu food court before I remembered!! I'm very sad!!

I'm feeling sick. It was Hui Mian, Vincent and me on the midnight shift tonight. It'll be the three of us again tomorrow. I'm going to take the flu pill again.

Friday 9 February 2007

I'm so tired and sleepy!! Okay here's a recount of what I did today. I reached home at 2am from the previous day's midnight rover shift. Then I slept from 3am to 6am! Woke up, had breakfast, and reached Beach Station by 7.50am. Shuba wrote "well done" beside my name on the daily deployment list because I was early. Then I was rover again from 8am to 12pm! Lunch break, then work somemore till 4.30pm. Was eagerly counting down off the time with Subra (different from Shuba!!) till we knock off, but when it was finally 4.30pm, Vincent asked me if I can work one more extra hour for him! All the O'Level people haven't reported for work yet and he was short of manpower. So I grudgingly gave him one more hour of overtime. Then I came home for dinner first. Before going for youth service. Then I joined Biru and Clarissa's cell! Then I came home and here I am.

I caught a cold! Kept sneezing non-stop today, and I'm coughing really bad too. I think it's the result of sleeping for only 3 hours last night. I'm so sad! I don't want to fall sick. I shall go and eat a flu pill later.

Anyway, today was a really good day at work. I think I was very friendly! I really really enjoyed talking to all the different guests today. There were compliments for me okay! YAY. And I went back all the way to Sentosa Station just to fetch a camera pouch which was lost on one of the trains. I was thinking maybe there was a camera in there, but it was just an empty pouch! And and, whenever I tell guests that the orange train is not in service because the driver is on training, most of them will suddenly be afraid and be extremely grateful to not be on the training train.

Ohh I'm very proud of myself too! I remembered to bring my GP and maths notes for Rachel! I've told her since Christmas that I'll give them to her, but I still haven't done so till now! But I remembered today. And I think she got 29 for her O'Levels L1R5 but she don't want to tell me. And she owe me drink.

I'm sneezing really badly. What if I'm too sick to go work tomorrow? I think Vincent will go berserk. Tomorrow's Saturday and I think there are 3 events going on too. That means crowded like hell.

I'm very tired. And I'm sick. Next time there shall be no more back-to-back morning and night shifts for me. I shall not switch shifts with anyone (especially Devin) if this occurs! Okay. I shall go get medicine for my nose and get some rest. I want to watch Powerpuff Girls tomorrow morning!
Ooh! Midnight shift again today! It's past 2am now. My goodness. And I've got to be at work again at 8am later. That means I'll have to be awake before 6am. That means about 3 or 4 hours of sleep. That means less than my desired 8 hours of sleep. It's all Devin's fault! I wasn't supposed to be working crazy back-to-back midnight and morning shifts, but he switched with me cos he has something on. Weh!! I think I'm going to be really tired. There's youth service after work somemore!! OH NOO.

Today was fun!! Both me and Jeremy were on the midnight shift, so we decided to meet up and go play around in Sentosa before we start work. We met Irin at the office, and she accompanied us to go play too! She's our IC for the night anyway. We went for a ride on the Sky Tower! Then we went to play Luge. Irin crashed into one of the safety barriers!! She just sped off at top speed in the beginning, didn't bother to turn or brake, and she bumped straight into the barrier right at the start. HAHAHA.

Shariffah's last day at work today. Me and Jeremy went to get a teddy bear for her at Vivo. Then a large group of them went to the Luge after their work, but not me cos I was working already. So sad! I think it's always depressing when someone is working for their last day. I'm going to miss her. And what's horrifying is that I'm the next one on schedule to quit.

I met my eyecandy today!! She was with her friend, and there was no one else but me and her and her friend on the platform! I didn't dare look at her cos I was very shy. But we waved at each other! Whee! Then later on in the night, more of her friends came as they were all on their way home. One of the girls was Jeremy's friend, so he went to help me get more info about my eyecandy!! Turns out they're all working at Sakae Sushi along the beach!! Jeremy told his friend that I liked my eyecandy!!! OH NOOO what if she finds out!!!

OH OH. I did something very stupid and embarrassing today. I bumped into one of the pillars on the train platform!! I didn't look where I was going and I walked straight into the pillar. And the pillar was semi-hollow or something, because there was a very loud THUD sound! Then everybody on the station turned and looked at me!!! Oh gosh how embarrassing is that! My whole head was shaky for 20 minutes after that knock okay.

Elton and me were looking at all the pretty girls again today! There were these 2 cute Japanese tourists who were trying to ask us directions, but we couldn't speak Jap and they couldn't speak English very well. Then Elton blatantly told me (in front of the two tourists) that he thinks they're cute! We followed them all the way up to the train platform okay!!! HAHAHA!! Then he cheated my feelings. He said there was a pretty girl outside our Station, so I pretended that I wanted to throw rubbish just to get a look. The "girl" was like, some guy okay!! Her arms and legs were MUSCULAR like she took steroids or something, and she looks like a guy. Oh gosh.

Me, Irin and Jeremy on the Luge. And the funky lady working there too. I like all the Luge people. Elton and me thinks that Luge guys and girls are the hottest staff working along the beaches.

Wednesday 7 February 2007

I'm not working today! But it's pretty boring cos I spent it mostly on sleeping. Ever since I finished A'Levels last year, I must sleep a minimum of 8 hours a day!! Last time I can survive for 2 months on 4 hours of sleep everyday. But sleeping is now a very important routine in my life. Hee hee hee!! The past week I've been sleeping like 6 or 7 hours everyday, and that is not enough! So today I slept for a total of 13 hours (so far) to compensate for all the one or two hours lack of sleep on the days where I didn't get my full 8 hours.

You know, I always pooh-pooh Kai Jie when he ridicules me about my crazy sleeping habits. He always reprimands me when I go to school with like, 3 or 4 hours of sleep the night before and I end up like a dead zombie. And since I normally do that most of the times, he scolds me practically everyday. But now I see the wisdom of his advice. You must get enough sleep everyday to grow and be healthy.

Despite it all, I'm still every bit a night-owl. HOOT HOOT! I'm most alert and most alive after 10pm and all the way till 4am! Yay that's why I like all the night shifts at work. And, I still do not have an established sleeping routine after so many years. I know some friends who sleep religiously from 10pm to 6am the next day, and it's habitual for them because they've been doing it everyday. Well, I certainly don't!! I don't want to be governed by strict sleeping times. I sleep whenever I like! Most of the time I choose to stay awake till very late into the night, and sleep until it's afternoon the next day. Or I take afternoon naps. Whichever is good, as long as I get 8 hours every day and 56 hours a week.

Okay. I shall blog about work last night! Was platform rover all the way till past midnight, together with Irin who was IC for the night and with Jeremy at ticketing. There isn't a lot of people left in Sentosa after 8pm! On a weekday, that is. So I watched them rehearsing for the new water show again! Haiya they are rehearsing like almost every night. I'm more or less super familiar with the story plot and all the water/fire/lights effects. But it's still spectacular.

I didn't see my eyecandy!! But I saw her friends! Does that count?? Weh. Jeremy keeps pestering me to ask for her number. But I'm VERY SHY. You cannot anyhow go asking for a girl's contact!! Whee. Azliza and Lavanniah came back after their work to keep me company at the train platform. For Az, it was to suit her ulterior motives la hahahaha!

OHH me and Az saw a huge container ship make a detour for somewhere else!! Everyday at work we see many many ships anchoring out there in the open sea (because we're at Beach Station). And everyday there's at least like one or two gigantic cargo ships that anchor just about a kilometre out from Siloso Beach! I've seen ships from all over the world already, and I've seen those holiday cruise ships too! Yesterday we saw this huge ship belonging to Maersk Sealand lift its anchor and speed out towards Indonesia. It's a marvellous sight I tell you!! The ship is so enormous that it doesn't look capable of even floating. But when it decides to let loose its nautical horsepower, the huge ship is as graceful and elegant as can be.

I'm eating the biscuits now that Su Kai brought back from Hokkaido! VERY NICE. The packaging is in my favourite shade of pink. OHHHH. I got myself a new wallet too! Shopping at Vivo is pretty cool. I like my new wallet! It's dark olive green and it's got a funky strap strap strap thing.

The Hokkaido biscuits

My bag, Sentosa nametag, new wallet and the book I'm reading now.

Monday 5 February 2007

This will be the third time that I'm blogging on Monday, February 5, 2007. Haha it's not intentional. I just happened to be blogging at weird timings.

I went back to Sentosa today! On my off day! My mum was extremely incredulous to hear about where I disappeared to. Now she's afraid that I'll follow the "family tradition" and go full-time at Sentosa when I graduate from university. For your information, my parents were both working at Sentosa before they eventually married, and my mum quitted after I was borned I think, while my dad is still there after 20 plus plus years.

Anyway, there were me, Shariffah, Hui Mian and Jeremy! Vincent helped us pull strings with the Luge people, so we all got the complimentary 3 free rides on the Luge and Skyride. It was really fun! Basically we sat on the chair-lifts all the way up, then zoomed down on the luge. Repeat that procedure for 2 more times. My first time playing the luge! I've sat on those chair-lifts with Wayne before, but not the luge.

Controlling it was super easy, cos it was a bit like riding a bike. Except that I'm hurtling downhill at about 40km/h. Or what I judge of it la. Went down the same race-course 3 times! There was once when I negotiated a turn so steeply that I was 2 inches away from the safety barrier, but I overtook Shariffah with that maneouvre. We told Hui Mian that she doesn't need her helmet. Jeremy got stranded in the bushes once!! HAHAHA!!! Whee and we were quite crazy on the Skyride. Fun!

Then we met up with Vincent again, and Lavaniah (after her work) to go have ice cream at New Zealand Natural along Siloso Beach. Shariffah's last day at Beach Station this Thursday cos she's flying off to study elsewhere. Then Lavaniah and Shariffah went off first, while the rest of us went for MacDonald's dinner at Harbourfront Centre.

Irin is back from Hong Kong! Yay! I'm going to be working with her and Jeremy till past midnight tomorrow.

Jeremy, Shariffah and Hui Mian, and me taking the photo while we were on the Skyride.

Each of us taking one chair-lift to ourselves.

Beach Station from the Skyride view!! NICE NICE!!

Ice cream, with Lavaniah and Vincent too.

With Jeremy!

There's more pictures. Okay to bed I go.
I'm happy! Okay I'm quite happy, at least for now. I just woke up! Time now is way past 1pm! I love it when I manage to sleep through the whole morning and I wake up in the middle of the day!! Whoopee! That means no more morning! I'm just in time for lunch also.

Not working today. But I'm going back to Sentosa later to play! Vincent called me to go play luge with him and Shariffah. I think more people are going too! So disgusting right!! I'm still going Sentosa even on my off days. But it's for leisure and recreational purposes, so that makes it up. I remember Shanaz telling me (during our training modules) that working at Sentosa is not really working, it's more fun and play than work. Well after like 3 or 4 weeks spent at Beach Station, I think I totally agree. I've learnt many valuable lessons and how to operate what or what to do or what else!

Oh oh oh today is pay day! YAY!! Go check my bank account later.

I just bumped into my stack of GP notes meant for Rachel. I told her that I'll pass them to her one day, but I keep forgetting!! AARGH. I must remember to bring it the next time I'm seeing her.
Another 3am in the morning. Yawn. This time round I'm really tired. But I can't seem to find the urge to sleep because my mind is full of things. I'm pondering about important issues in my life now. Haha I've just come off the end of some important decisions made in the past month or two, and now I've got a different set of crossroads to choose from again.

Okay, let's blog about work today. I was on ticketing today!! Or rather, yesterday, since it's already past 3am now. It was the first time in ten million days that the ticket dispenser didn't have any jam tickets in a shift!! From what I heard, the ticket dispenser jammed many many times during the day. Jeremy and Hui Mian had many many jammed tickets. But when I took over from 6pm, and from then on till all the way past midnight, I didn't encounter any ticket jams! It must be my really really good day.

But the TSM hanged once during my shift. When I was on break, TSM showed that "error" message and shut down automatically. So that means I have to print two Z-reports to account for all the money and transaction details. Shuba wrote a long long story to try and account for all the weird things she did! She cashed out my sales money, then logged in again, then don't know whatever else rubbish she did when the TSM hanged. I was away on break you see! So technically, I didn't have a single fault while I was on ticketing. Things go right when Guan You is around. Whee.

Oh. I broke my own sales record too! I earned the highest sum of sales money I ever did since I first started work! Hooray! It really was a good day. No ticket jams, no major trouble, and highest personal sales record. Closing the station with Shuba was a breeze.

I met my Tourism Acad eyecandy today!! It's been a long time since I last met her. I think about a week? I saw her going up the escalator from my ticketing counter, so I took the lift up to the train platform just to go say hi! She saw me and waved at me!! Then she was waiting for the train, and I felt very embarassed because I cannot keep looking at her, so I pretended to talk to Elton (who was doing rover at the platform). Hahaha he said the moment he saw a red-haired girl, he had a sort of hunch that she might be my eyecandy. And 2 seconds later I appeared up from the lift! Then the whole time she was looking at me I think! She waved goodbye again when the train arrived, then when she was in the train she kept looking at me!! OH NOOO I think she probably discovered that I'm secretly admiring her!! But I still think she's very pretty!!

They had another rehearsal at the new musical fountain. Twice somemore!! The entire area is still under construction, but it's looking more and more complete every day. The title of the water show is Songs of the Sea!! The water jets and lights are very nice. Looks abit like the Las Vegas water show. And the fire balls segment is very very powerful and intimidating. WAH. I made friends with some of the actors involved in the show too! They are all funky fun-loving people.

I had 4 crazy whackos who came up to my ticketing counter and requested for "four tickets worthy enough for four avatars". They insisted I call them avatars because they believe it is their second life on this planet. I think they're drunk.

I'm off on Monday. And Wednesday. This week is not too hectic for me.

Sunday 4 February 2007

3am in the morning. Had work till past midnight again today! I love working the midnight shifts. Got free transport home, and I'm actually awake, alert and attentive enough to do everything! Haiya I'm a night-owl la. I don't do mornings well. I prefer to sleep through my mornings and don't bother with it.

Let's see. Today was a busy weekend! Saturday nights are one of the hippest times at the beach. That's because everyone goes home late on Saturday nights, or they're going over to the new Cafe Del Mar! All the clubbers dressed in nice shirts and short skirts. So it's actually quite a headache today. And TSM is lousy. Ticket jams were extremely frequent today. I wasn't on ticketing, I was doing rover! They didn't line up the queue poles today because we didn't have enough, so everybody is sticking their heads out for the train to whack them again. "Hi sir, for your own safety, please do not lean over into the train platform, thank you."

And and, they ran a full rehearsal of the new musical fountain/water show tonight!! All the guests on the platform were willing to miss their trains just to watch the show. Me and Shariffah didn't care about our rover duties and we happily watched it too! It's very nice!!! I like the concept of having a musical fountain just by the beach. The show is more interactive now, because there's an actual group of actors hired for the show. The lights and laser are cool enough. The water jets are awesome! Music is catchy! Only thing is, the fountain doesn't have those swivel swivel jets. All the water jets are either spouting up straight or in one fixed direction only.

I really liked the show! The entire rehearsal run-through was good enough. And there's fire balls too! There's this part of the show where they kept shooting fire balls one after another into the sky, and the effect (together with music) was brilliant. I like the Munneru Valiba song best! And I like the YAY YAY YAY, WOO WOO WOO ending song!! But I think Oscar the whatever-fish looks like a bat. Ahh. But first I must go watch the current musical fountain show!!

Shariffah got so excited over the fountain rehearsal! And can you believe it, it's her first night shift at Beach Station?? She started work like 2 months earlier than me and she's never stayed past 7pm before. I'm quite used to them testing out the music and sounds and lights and waters at night, but she was absolutely ecstatic to watch everything.

I like meeting all the funky clubbing people at night. They are the most boisterous bunch of people that you can meet at work. There was this group of African-American guys who did an impromptu rap while waiting for the train! One guy was filming a video on his camera, and the other 2 of them were just chanting words out like a bullet train. Don't know what in the world they were rapping, but it sounded way cool.

Oh oh! There was a dramatic case today that involved the police! All of us were on alert for a guy who was on the police suspect list because he slashed someone at Siloso Beach. Then at around 6pm, one of the train driver supervisor spotted someone on the blue train at our station that looked like the suspect! So we radioed all the other Sentosa Express stations to tell them to look out too! Then apparently they stopped the entire train system for 10 minutes, while the police were investigating at Sentosa Station! Could see the trains stop at Imbiah Station and not moving. I was rover so I easily caught up with all these drama! Didn't know whether the police got their man in the end or not though. But it's so dramatic right!!!

And I found out that Debbie is not from Taiwan or Hong Kong or anywhere else out of Singapore! I initially assumed that she was, because the other day she was touring Sentosa with some of her relatives from Taiwan. But she's Singaporean! Hahaha.

Okie. I've got ticketing past midnight again tomorrow. I like ticketing! And midnight! It's just that TSM will jam a billion times. It's happening on a daily basis now.

It's been a busy busy day today! In a short synopsis, it was work, dinner, youth service and cell groups! Tired. I think I'm really getting old. I'm not used to such a frenzied lifestyle anymore. Haha!

Alright, first on the list. Work today! Platform rover from 8am to 4.30pm. I was quite dead in the morning because I hate mornings. But by afternoon, I was left very tired. Everyone on the train platform wants their heads snapped off by the oncoming train. Absolutely idiotic!! I don't see why it's such an automatic reaction to lean outwards into the train tracks when the train arrives. I'm going to tell Vincent and Shuba to hang some bloody, messy, mangled decapitated heads just above the train tracks. Then people will stop leaning over.

Anyway, I'm going to be on TV again! Hahaha! Mediacorp sent this small team down for filming for some youth internship program or something. They chose Zifu! So I had to pretend to teach him how everything on the train platform operates, whatever crap. Sounds quite okay right? But I have to speak in Chinese! And Zifu is like so much more senior on the Sentosa Express team than me. Anyway the program is in June, so me on TV is still far away.

After work, I went for dinner with Shermin! Her slightly belated birthday present, since I promised her a dinner treat! We went to Pastamania! And I gave her one of the green Sentosa tap cards which I stole a long long time ago. Hahaha. Then I paid my NETS because I wanted to see how the girl will handle NETS transactions! I recently learnt how to do NETS and credit card transactions on that swipe swipe machine. So cool!! The other day I did a NETS transaction all by myself! Everything was correct except that my input of the reference number was wrong.

After dinner I had to rush for worship practice. But we met George and Kim!! Okay Shermin probably don't know them, but George was my old Catholic High classmate and Kim is his girlfriend. I can't remember how I met Kim. But never mind, it's been quite some time since I last saw them!

Worship prac was good. Youth service, then cell groups! Everybody split into their new cell groups today. Sort of a major reshuffle. Me and Aaron had no proper cell groups, because he's going to Australia in a few weeks time and I'm going army too. So we decided to roam around and visit all the new cell groups! How fun is that?? Hahaha! Okay. And we helped all the cell groups (except Matt's group) to take new cell group photos. Then walking to the bus-stop abit, before home!!

Photos! Yay!

What Shermin and me had for dinner.

Aaron! I think this pose makes him look good.

With Daphne!

With Shermin! One of the few photos in which she's smiling properly.

And and, Shi Hui and Ben Ng trying some HEE HEE HEE look.

There's more photos here. For those cell group leaders who wants their photos, and for all the other people who's reading this and have nothing else to do.

I'm utterly exhausted. Work today was very satisfying, but very energy-sapping. I like Siti Eyshah, but she's going back to Visitor Arrival Centre after her 2-day "loan". Somehow we've managed to cope without a proper IC looking after all of us.

I helped a lot of people today!! It always gives me a sense of fulfilment when I've helped a guest plan his or her day. I met this girl from Vietnam who promised to give me a tour if I'm there. Although I don't have her contact number. I like meeting Americans because they're always among the funkiest people around. We had a lot of British tourists today. And everytime Shariffah or Siti or Azliza need help with tourists from China, they refer them to me!! I spoke to a lot of China tourists today.

OHH. There was this China tourist who lost his wife's pouch at Palawan Beach, so me and Shuba helped him file a loss report. Then Shuba decided to call the Rangers to check with their lost and found items, and under extremely fortunate circumstances, the pouch has been found! So I accompanied that man all the way to the Ranger Station, helped him deal with all the paperwork and procedures and verification, before returning back to Beach Station! So cool right? I got to sit on the Blue Line bus for one entire round. He's very lucky to get all the items in the pouch back! There was a phone in there and $170 in cash!! WAH.

I sat on the Skyride today! Wayne's crazy idea. I had twenty minutes left during my break, and he was half an hour early for work. So we hopped over to the Luge and Skyride, and the nice guy working there let us in for free. Our original idea was to take the Skyride up and then go back down in the luge! But we didn't want to push our luck trying to get more free rides. Enjoyed the view! It's abit scary to be dangling your legs like 5 storeys above ground, but the view is awesome. Then we went back from Imbiah Station.

I know this sounds a bit stupid, but it was my first visit to Imbiah Station! I've never been there before even though I'm part of the Sentosa Express team. All I've seen of the station is the train platform, and I know some of their staff over there. The station's so cramped! Hmm I still like my Beach Station best. And today is the first time I've taken the Blue Line bus for one entire round! Normally I'll tell guests to take the bus to wherever blah blah if they want to get to somewhere, but I've never experienced it myself before!! All these while I'm giving directions without knowing what really goes on. Now I have a clearer perspective!

Elton and me spent the morning looking out for pretty girls again. Hahaha and he managed to cut a 10 cent coin cleanly into half! Used one of those surgical scissors from the first-aid box. Awesome! I've got one half. That means 5 cents.

I had to report for work at 8am this morning. Woke up at 6am and was at MacRitchie bus-stop by 7am. I felt like I was going for school! I saw all the Hwa Chong people on the bus. I saw a few Nanyang Girls students whom I recognise by face, because I've seen them take the same bus to school for two whole years. And then I saw NJ students at MacRitchie bus-stop! It feels so weird not being part of them.

Tomorrow's going to be a crazy day. It's 8am in the morning again. I must be asleep by 10pm later. Was so tired on the way home that I overslept and woke up at some unfamiliar bus-stop.
