Hmm, in one way or another I'm glad to have reached the end of this week. It's been a busy one. Too busy, I must say, cos I've been involved in so many stuff and so many activities that I'm neglecting sleep. My bedtime for this week is 3am in the morning, then waking up at 6am for school. The only time when I've slept for more than 3 hours was on Wednesday night, and I didn't even get to bed early. I slept at 3am and woke up at 8am instead, so I was almost an hour late for school on Thursday.
I have a sleepy look on my face. Some people told me sheepish, and most people say it's zombie-ish. My thoughts are just flowing randomly now.
Went down to Far East Flora on Wednesday after school with Mr Adrian Loh and Hui Min. Needed to get a tree for Earth Week for our traditional tree-planting ceremony, so Mr Loh drove us down. We got a hydrangea! There were only 3 pots of hydrangea left, so we chose the best looking out of the three and sent it back to NJ. I got a small little pot and dish for myself too, cos I wanted to transplant my rosemary.
I know nuts about reproduction in plants and animals. Tuition with Hai Hao is getting more and more tough for me, cos I didn't take Biology ever in my entire life, so I have to constantly research about the ovary and sperm and fertilisation and whatever, just to answer Hai Hao's weird questions. And now it's anther and filament and whatever! I mean, I know SPECIES of flowers, but I don't know REPRODUCTION in flowers.
Me and Siew Peng had a lively discussion during double GP. I insisted that chickens are borned in eggs which are then fertilised externally, but Siew started questioning the process of fertilisation and whether there is any use for the male chicken! Then we started arguing about whether trees are asexual or bisexual, then Liyana told us that some trees like papaya tree had male trees and female trees! We even got Ms Florence Yap to check out the definition of fertilisation.
' "Playing God." How far does this describe the endeavours of scientists and doctors today?' Ms Yap said that we do not need to consider science versus religion for this GP essay topic, but I felt that it was impossible to not discuss religion in the topic as it is a contravention against the roles of God, so it is important to specify the role of scientists and doctorr, especially in their attempts to "play God".
Got back all my Common Test results.
GP: B4.
Maths: O8.
Geography: D.
Literature: D. Far from what I would want really, but apparently D for Literature was considered a good grade to most already. Blah. I spent the whole term studying Maths and at most 2 weeks studying Lit, and Lit turned out to be one of my better subjects. Such irony.
Did up a giant cross and message for Good Friday service with Shi Hui and Tammy. On Thursday after lessons, I met Shi Hui in school, then we went to J8 to get paper and tape, then went back to corps to start work. The original message was supposed to be "The man who hung here is the BONAFIDE, CERTIFIED, UNDEFEATED, UNDISPUTED truth & the light, who died out of love for the WORLD, presenting SALVATION for YOURS TRULY." But there were space constraints, so we excluded the long list of BONAFIDE...UNDISPUTED adjectives.
Anyway, the final result was awesome! The three of us had our own bimbo party, cutting paper and pasting it onto the wall. Started work at 6pm, and finished at 1am! By 10pm all of us were drunk. Matthew and Daniel came shortly after midnight to buy us supper, and by the time I reached home in the middle of the night, my mum asked me sleepily whether it was time for school.
Ben and Lurong put together a short video about the archeological and biblical documentation of Jesus' death. I got my name on the credits for "rushing back home and contributing the Father's Love Letter after tuition", cos they used it towards the ending. HEE HEE!
And Good Friday service! Imagine my shock when I saw so many people bringing friends. Okay maybe it wasn't that many, but still, there were a lot of new faces. And during our final worship practice in the afternoon, I couldn't even sing decently at all, much less reach the high notes. Then after dinner with Ben Ng, Adriel and Sarah, my voice came back much stronger during the full-dress rehearsal. Duck noodles, ginseng herbal tea and Strepsils Extra Strong helped. And we brought together a different meaning to "gaining fat"
Well it was good. The many hours of practice paid off, Strepsils did its job, and I could sing high when I needed to. After the worship sessions, I got everyone to stick a star with their names on the big cross that we pasted the night before. And gave out the Love Letter! Everything was quite well-organised, and I think my fellowship committee simply is amazing!
Guess what? Clarissa brought her friends Li Rong and Shi Min. Incidentally, I sent them invites to this service via post. And apparently Shi Min still remembers playing board games with me, even though I've forgotten her name. Shermin and Yurong and me are embroidered in a love triangle. And us three bimbos (Shi Hui, Tam and me) used the leftover star stickers, wrote BIMBO and pasted it on our oh-so-sexy chest!
I can't resist this pun: the church is a place where both me and my items get lost and found. Last Saturday after worship practice, I left behind a CD and stickers meant for SOMEONE'S birthday. Yesterday, Joel passed it back to me, after keeping it with him for almost a week. And on Thursday night, I left my bottle in the auditorium ALL BECAUSE I WAS TRYING TO BE NICE TO TAMMY. Last night, I found it at the reception counter. As for me, I am totally lost in God's embrace and foound in his love.
I think the security guard uncle is super duper nice.
OH OH OH. I can't believe I forgot to mention this: I got Band 1 for Project Work! HOORAY. My whole class got either 1 or 2 which is really a good thing, and I really couldn't believe it when Ms Vignesh said "Guan You, one...". But I think it's kinda dumb, cos we did one whole year of research and thrashing out all the interviews and documentations and oral presentation, and our results were released to us in less than 5 minutes. BATHOS.
AND OH OH OH. I must mention this: My application for the HSBC/NYAA Youth Environmental Award got through! They're asking me down for an interview on Monday. HOORAY.
There you go. My interestingly long week for you.
